A data center generator is selected as part of a complete electrical system—not by matching a single kW figure. HPOWER reviews UPS behavior, cooling loads, step loading, redundancy, synchronization, fuel autonomy and site conditions before recommending the generator arrangement.
Engineering considerations
- Architecture: single unit, N+1, 2N or multi-module arrangement according to the project design.
- Dynamic performance: UPS rectifier behavior, motor starting, block load acceptance and recovery limits.
- Electrical integration: ATS, paralleling switchgear, protection, neutral and earthing philosophy.
- Fuel system: day tanks, bulk storage, transfer pumps, filtration and required runtime.
- Controls: synchronization, load sharing, SCADA/BMS communication and remote alarms.
- Environment: noise, airflow, temperature, altitude, dust, seismic and installation-space constraints.
Possible system formats
Open sets for engineered plant rooms, acoustic container packages, direct low-voltage output, project-specific medium-voltage systems and modular parallel power plants. Engine, alternator and controller brands are selected against the approved vendor list and performance requirement.
